On the 18th September 2021, six employees at SAS International will take part in the Malvern Hills Challenge, a highly successful fundraising event which is celebrating it’s 10th anniversary. The determined participants include: Tom Hilton (Maintenance Manager), Faye Quinn (CAD Technician), Harriet Rolls (Quality Manager), Lucy Prince (Purchasing and Planning Assistant), Matthew Chance (Production Engineer), and Parminder Dharewal (Management Accountant).
Our SAS team are participating in this local challenge to show their support for the charity, promote teamwork in the workplace, and improve their fitness. The event is in aid of Help for Heroes, a well-deserved charity that focuses on supporting those with injuries and illnesses sustained whilst serving in the British Armed Forces. Irrespective of when the individual served, the charity provides support in their recovery, as well as assisting them with physical, psychological, financial and welfare support for as long as they require. The charity receives almost no funding from the Government and relies solely on the spirit and generosity of the great British public to keep going, which is why fund-raising events such as the Malvern Hills Challenge is so significant in helping them continue their good work.
The challenge involves walking one of two routes through the picturesque rolling hills of Malvern Priory Park. Our SAS team will be participating in the Long Walk (wave B), which takes approximately 6 hours at a steady pace and covers a total of 18km. This will be divided into 9 sections, which include Midsummer Hill, Pinnacle Hill and Worcestershire Beacon.
Harriet Rolls, Quality Manager at SAS International, commented, “We are a motivated but small team made up of colleagues who work in various departments at SAS. Our main goal is to raise funds for Help for Heroes. The event was unfortunately cancelled last year due to COVID-19, and following a challenging year for many, we are looking forward to coming together, representing SAS, and supporting each other.”
