Our fabric-covered metal ceiling tiles optimise the unique properties of two very different materials. In collaboration with Camira, SAS Static Stretch TexTiles combine soft, woven fabric with low embodied carbon steel in a simple design aimed at comfort, functionality and, most importantly, reuse.
At SAS, the design and production process reflects our commitment to circularity and sustainability. SAS TexTiles are durable, ensuring long-term performance, yet suitable for creative reuse or adaptation at any time. They offer excellent sound absorption and a warm, elegant look, elevating the sensory experience and aesthetic appeal of any space.
What's the difference between Static and Active Stretch?
Static Stretch - Ideal for regular tile sizes and direct integration with SAS grid and systems. Fabric is wrapped around a perforated steel tile with tension applied during fabrication and locked into place (static). Developed specifically to optimise material use and deliver the lowest possible embodied carbon values.
Active Stretch - Suitable for large tiles and complex shapes, compatible with SAS systems and bespoke applications. Fabric is clamped into a self-locking aluminium frame system with springs maintaining constant tension over the product lifetime (active). Purposefully designed for longevity and re-use, the system allows refurbishment time and time again.
