Cradle to Cradle certified ceilings complete the contemporary home aesthetic in the new OVO Glasgow Headquarters.
SAS740 linear ceilings were specified to mimic the apex and beams of a house roof to bring a home-like feel to the central communal hub. Designed for disassembly and reuse, the RAL 9016 white baffles create a unique shape that subtly highlights the company’s role as a household energy supplier.
Bespoke rafts consisting of SAS330 lay-in and SAS200 hook-on tile systems provide acoustic absorption in corridor and open office areas. Essential for reducing background noise, the floating Class A acoustic absorbers have a large OB50 (50% Open Area) perforation and dark RAL 9005 colour to enhance the hospitality-inspired spaces.
Private meeting rooms and quiet spaces also utilise white SAS200 hook-on ceilings maximising the concealed grid design to increase the open area for acoustic absorption.
A Project of Firsts
The building incorporates recycled construction materials with cement-replacement technology in its concrete. It is also projected to be the first building in Scotland to use air purifying Airlite paint, a 100% natural technology that is anti-viral, anti-pollution, anti-bacterial and self-cleaning.
Not only a Grade A office space, the OVO HQ is one of Scotland's most sustainable office developments and the city’s first Net Zero Carbon in operation office building.
Moreover, the building has Scotland’s first cycle-in access ramp, and the first private fleet of ‘Swifty Scooters’ for tenants to use free. The project was recently named Scotland’s highest-scoring ‘ActiveScore’ building for its commitment to cycling and other forms of active travel.
