Whitechapel Station

To compliment the well know charm and diversity of London's East End, TFL have opened to the public Whitechapel Station. SAS are pleased to have collaborated with the projects architect and main contractor. The station features a range of SAS's ceiling solutions that add to the aesthetic and ambience of the new transport hub.

Walking through the refurbished Victorian era entrance, the commuter is greeted by a sweeping curved canopy. The feature ceiling is comprised of SAS750 tubeline anodised in four different shades of bronze. The unique feature ceiling sails above the concourse and is a signature statement of architectural intent.

Designed by BDP to be an open-air canopy, the curved structure is exposed to the elements and a now unpredictable ever-changing climate. The solution, developed by SAS, to ensure this product has a long lifespan was to use anodised aluminium which provides a durable and versatile product.
